 On
October 8, 2002, the delegation of the Baltic Exchange made an official
visit to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange. Mr. Zhu jianhua, president
of the Shanghai Shipping Exchange introduced to Mr. Peter Kitching,
president of the Baltic Exchange, the functions and the newest business
exploration of the SSE. The two parties held an in-depth discussion.

On September 25, the first general meeting of the China Coastal Bulk
Freight Index (CBFI) Compiling committee was held in shanghai. Mr.
Zhu jianhua, president of the Shanghai Shipping Exchange and secretary
of the CBFI Compiling committee presided over the meeting.
About 20 representatives, from companies such as China Shipping, Qinghuangdao
Port Authority and Guangzhou Port Authority, took part in the meeting.
In a warm atmosphere, they reviewed the daily operation of the compiling
of the CBFI over the past 10 months and held a warm discussion on
its further development.

 To
provide better service to the compiling work of the China Export Container
Freight Index (CCFI) and improve its accuracy and authority, the CCFI
compiling committee held its sixth general meeting in Shanghai on
21, October. Two decisions have been passed during the meeting. First,
to incorporate Jinjiang Shipping, HASCO and SMTC into the compiling
committee. Second, to accept, on a principal basis, the adjusted way
of the compiling of CCFI.
